I cannot understate what a huge difference to my life having therapy with Helen has had. Prior to working with her, I was suffering from PTSD symptoms including flashbacks and severe anxiety. This was greatly impacting on my daily life, work and relationships.

Since working with Helen, I have been able to return to a happy, anxiety and flashback free life. My sleep has improved immeasurably and I now feel confident in myself and my abilities.

I chose Helen as my therapist due to her vast experience around birth and pregnancy. I knew I would not have to explain my trauma to her and that I would receive the support I needed. I had previously spoken to other advisors through the NHS who were not experienced in this area and found this lack of knowledge around birth trauma, and it’s impact, very frustrating. Helen also offers a level of flexibility with both therapeutic approaches as well as appointments that allows therapy to work around a busy family life. 

I would highly recommend Helen for anyone thinking of starting therapy. She is incredibly knowledgable, patient and caring. I felt so supported and It has made a huge difference to my life and to my family.

I experienced what I can only describe as the worst and most terrifying time in my life; When I was expecting my beautiful daughter (my first child) I was so excited to embark on this journey. However what I was not prepared for was the traumatic labour and post birth recovery that ultimately led to me suffering from severe postnatal depression and feeling like a failure as a Mother. When I discovered I was pregnant again, my initial reaction was sheer panic and distress about what I thought I was about to go through all over again. Working in psychology and mental health services myself I spent a lot of time thinking about what I would need to try and make this pregnancy and birth a different experience. Helen was wonderful from start to finish, from the first telephone contact where it was clear from her warm, friendly, and empathic responses that I would feel able to relate to her and feel safe to share my fears and anxieties. Helen was also very confident in her approach and it was evident that her knowledge and expertise in birth and trauma were remarkable. Helen delivered several sessions of post trauma therapy with me to process the physical and psychological trauma of my last birth, and this reduced the level of my anxiety significantly. I found myself able to reflect on those experiences with less distress and found that they ultimately had less power over my emotions and how I felt about my next birth. I cannot thank Helen enough for all of her support. I had a completely different birthing experience and I am contemplating a further baby in the future (that’s a miracle!). Thank you Helen.

Due to having a traumatic birth with my daughter, I often felt bouts of anxiety during my second pregnancy (I had alot of sleepless nights). I took my time to research and make contact with a few doulas. I felt an instance connection with Helen she was very generous with her time, I never felt rushed. I completed some online yoga sessions with Helen via Zoom which I gained some valuable information from and would recommend. I also did some therapy with Helen and  hand on heart this was the best thing I could have done to help with my pregnancy anxiety. I felt completely renewed and actually started to look forward to giving birth!

I wanted help with developing healthier eating and dealing with cravings for sweet things especially chocolate during my pregnancy. I also wanted help with anxiety and a relationship issue I was dealing with. We had weekly one to ones online and I was very happy with the results. After only one session I have not touched chocolate since. This in turn has helped my general mood and well being as my blood sugar levels are stabilised. Helen’s wellness programme has helped me enormously. I would recommend Helen to anyone who is open to new ways to help themselves. Helen is a very capable therapist, always patient, kind and understanding. I regularly use the techniques Helen taught me if I experience anxiety or pain.
